Magnetic compensation control in ferrimagnetic multilayers using interface effects

  • Annotation in Czech

Ferrimagnetic multilayers composed of transition metals and rare-earth elements have gathered considerable attention due to their unique magnetic properties. Different temperature dependence of magnetization in each sublattice of ferrimagnet may result in their mutual compensation at a certain temperature, where the net magnetic moment vanishes. The emergence of magnetization compensation is a key parameter governing the functionality in applications. This project investigates the use of interface modification to control the magnetic state in ferrimagnetic multilayers. Preliminary studies indicate that interface modifications using various Au thicknesses in Co/Tb multilayers systematically shift the compensation temperature over a range of Co/Tb ratios, confirming the effect being driven by the interface. Building on the results, we will explore the impact of various buffer layer materials, their deposition conditions, and the resulting interface qualities on magnetic properties, extending the concept to other ferrimagnetic systems, and evaluate their use in all-optical switching.
