    Unraveling the Regulatory Landscape of Neuronal T-Type Calcium Channel Variants in Human Disease

    T-type calcium channels play a vital role in neuronal excitability, hormone secretion, and development. Genetic variations in these channels are associated with disorders such as epilepsy, autism spectrum disorders, and schizophrenia. However, current functional analyses often rely on recombinant systems that fail to fully capture the complex regulatory mechanisms influencing these channels. This project aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of T-type channel variants under physiologically relevant conditions, incorporating factors such as the cellular environment, regulatory proteins, physiological temperature, and alternative splicing. By refining our understanding of how these variants behave in native contexts, we aim to uncover their precise roles in disease and identify new avenues for therapeutic intervention.
