Temporal microstructure of memory pattern activation and information processing in brain neural networks

  • Annotation in Czech

The processing of information by the brain is a complex process that involves the coordinated activity of many regions with specialized functions. While the individual activity of each of these regions has been studied, the nature of information flow through specific brain modules remains largely unexplored. The main goal of this project is to map the microstructure of the activation dynamics of stored neural activity patterns across neural networks of the hippocampus and cerebral cortex and to project them onto long-term changes in neural representations. These findings will be further developed in a model of human neuropathologies characterized by alterations in brain oscillations. The project utilizes novel printed electrode technologies that enable the simultaneous recording of many individual neurons across multiple populations. This approach allows for the observation of neural information transformation and memory trace activation in parallel across different brain regions, providing an entirely new perspective on the complex phenomenon of memory activation and its impairments
