The use of biotechnological methods in secondary metabolite production, breeding and micropropagation of medical plant Schizandra chinensis
Project goals
The aim of the project is to study potential uses of suspension, callus and embryogenic cultures of medical plant Schizandra chinensis for the production of lignan secondary metabolites; which were found as hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antiviral and anticancer agents. Possibilities of selection of high productive lines and plant production using selected embryogenic cultures will be also studied. The project is based on the use of analytical and isolation methods, developed by specialist teams at theLF MU (Táborská, Slanina), and extraction and cultivation capacity and experience of the team at FF VFU (Kramářová, Šmejkal). Moreover, embryogenic cultures, developed at the AF MZLU (Vlašínová, Smíšková) will be utilized. The result of the project willbe lignan analysis methods, methodology of lignan production in vitro, and micropropagation methods for selected valuable genotypes.

Project name in Czech
Využití biotechnologických metod k produkci sekundárních metabolitů, šlechtění a mikropropagaci léčivé rostliny klanoprašky čínské
Annotation in Czech
Cílem projektu je studium možností využití suspenzních, kalusových a embryogenních kultur léčivé rostliny klanoprašky čínské k produkci sekundárních metabolitů lignanového typu, u kterých byly zjištěny významné hepatoprotektivní, antioxidační, antivirovéi protirakovinné účinky. Dále bude studována možnost selekce linií s vyšší produkcí lignanů a dopěstování rostlin z vybraných embryogenních linií. Výsledkem projektu budou metodiky analýzylignanů, metodiky produkce lignanů in vitro kulturami a metodiky mikropropagace vybraných cenných klonů.
