Structure, Properties and the Use of C,N-, Y,C,Y-chelated Organometallic and Related Metal Complexes

Project goals

The project deals with the study of the preparation, chemical and physical properties, the structure, the reactivity and possible applications of organometallic C,N-chelated and Y,C,Y-bischelated (Y=N or O) complexes of both transition and main group metals and of analogous metal complexes with Y,N-ligands. Plausible use of prepared compounds in syntheses of organic and organometallic compounds (e.g. transfer of ligands and/or polar groups) and in catalysis (e.g. hydrogenation polymerization of olefins,hydroformylation) will be studied as well.

    A great number of complexes of numerous metals with a broad series of chelating ligands were synthesized and thoroughly characterized including x-ray diffraction, electrochemistry, and catalysis, with participation of students. The application of resultsin various fields is envisioned. The number of articles (14 published + 2 submitted) is extraordinary even on an international scale.
