Integrated research on high-performance, long-term stable, lead-free perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells
Annotation in Czech
Should solar cell really be a mass source of clean energy, it is necessary to increase efficiency and stability and eliminate toxic and scarce materials. An efficiency of over 28% on the area of a nine-inch wafer can be achieved now by combining crystalline silicon technology with perovskite; the latter one containing toxic lead halides, unstable organic cations, and indium as a conductive window. The goal of the Taiwanese partner in this project is to replace perovskite with a lead-free and stable inorganic alternative, and even to try to avoid indium. This challenging task will be supported by Czech partner with a set of unique and highly original characterization methods of materials and entire devices. These techniques will be further elaborated by new modifications, applications and new theoretical models. The results will be deep defects concentration in each layer, light scattering enhancement, theoretical maximum of attainable voltage and current losses due to parasitic absorptance. All related to device efficiency and lifetime and all giving quick feedback for technology.
