Influence of surface - active agents on bubble-particle interactions

Project goals

The aim of the project is to broaden the knowledge about the influence of surface-active agents (surfactants) on bubble-particle interactions. The presence of surfactants influences both the bubble surface mobility (which leads to decrease of bubble velocity) and bubble adhesion on solid surface. Surfactants influence also the wettability of surfaces, because surfactant molecules adhere on the interface. Following sub-projects will be studied in more detail: 1/ interactions of large particles and smallbubbles with the emphasis on the study of bubble-particle collision and development of theoretical model for estimation of collision efficiency. 2/ influence of surfactants on bubble adhesion on solid surface with emphasis on experimental and theoreticaldescription of three-phase contact expansion. 3/ description of bubble shape on inclined and curved surface. 4/ wetting properties of aqueous solutions of simple alcohols.

Vliv povrchově aktivních látek na interakce bublin a částic

  • Project results evaluation

The project was focused on the study of influence of surface active agents on bubble-particle interactions. In detail were studied 4 parts: study of bubble-particle collision, study of the bubble adhesion on solid surface and of the influence of surfactants on adhesion dynamics, then description of bubble shape and on the study of wettability of water-alcohol mixtures. We published 4 articles in impact journals and several contributions in conference proceedings.
