Development of Vehicle Centre of Sustainable Mobility

Project goals

The project mainly deals with new combustion concepts of traditional and advanced fuels and their mixtures in piston combustion engines accompanied by increasing of the heat and mechanical efficiency of engines, increasing of the power concentration by supercharging and possible further increasing of efficiency by downspeeding, research of power transmission systems with accumulation of traction work for use in hybrid powertrain units and reduction of emissions of pollutants and carbon dioxide in the exhaust gas with evaluation of the impact of conventional and new technologies on the environment and especially human health. Integral constituents of the project are optimized adaptive and predictive control processes using mechatronic elements and research of experimental, simulation and evaluation techniques for reduction of the development cycle of powertrain units. In conformity to the present trend combustion engines developed for combustion of alternative fuels will also be used in decentralized power generation (cogeneration, trigeneration, cycles for use of waste heat as ORC). Conversely, experience with the design of these cycles will be reflected in future concepts of vehicle powertrain units.

    Hlavním cílem projektu je výzkum cest a vývoj komponent moderních hnacích jednotek automobilů se zvýšenou tepelnou a mechanickou účinností spalovacího motoru, snížení hmotnosti hnací jednotky pro zlepšení provozní účinnosti vozidla a snížení emise škodlivin i emise oxidu uhličitého ve spalinách s posouzením dopadu konvenčních a nových technologií na životní prostředí a zejména lidské zdraví. Parametry navržených hnacích jednotek i nové metody experimentálního vývoje a simulací jakožto ekonomika založená na znalostech se projeví na globální konkurenceschopnosti průmyslu i výzkumné základny automobilového oboru, působící na území ČR.

    On 30 June 2019 the implementation of the project “Development of the Center of Vehicles for Sustainable Mobility” (LO1311), the aim of which was to support the sustainability and broader application of the research center was completed. The main directions of research and development were set up more than 10 years ago and in order to maintain the development trends in the future it was necessary to re-evaluate the original intentions and expand the research activities in order to capture future prospective areas of R&D in time. The activities of the Center of Vehicles for Sustainable Mobility were expanded to include activities that led to greater interest of domestic and foreign partners from industry and research organizations in cooperation. The implementation of the project was also crucial in terms of maintaining CVUM personnel at a very high level and supporting the education of young researchers.
