Project name in Czech
Thermodynamic and kinetic investigations of metal complexes of polydentate ligands for biomedical, analytical and industrial applications
Annotation in Czech
In the Project, new experimental techniques for investigation of metal ion-ligand systems will be sought and tested. The metal considered metal ions are divalent (mainly Cu(II) and Pb(II)) and high-valent (Sc(III), Ga(III), lanthanide(III), Bi(III) and/or Zr(IV)) ones. These metal ions are those with radioisotopes of medicinal interest. The ligands to be studied are macrocyclic polydentate ligands and ligands of industrial interest as polyamino-polyphosphonates. For these systems, both thermodynamic and kinetic parameters are important and will be determined. The developed methods will be applied on systems with newly synthesized ligands to have data for a design of ligands with improved radiochemical properties. The ligands will be synthesized and evaluated to confirm the expectations based on the previous data.

Project results evaluation
Thermodynamic/kinetic properties of macrocyclic ligand complexes of Ln, Ga, Cu and Pb were studied. New methodologies for determination of stability constants of polyamino-polyphosphonic acid complexes, and to study Zr complexes were suggested. Ligands suitable for metal radioisotopes were found. 11 papers, as well as conference contributions and student thesis were connected with the project.
