Project name in Czech
Funkce lipidů v regulaci kardioprotekce závislé na mitochondriích

Project results evaluation
We showed that natural fatty acids and their hydroxy derivates inhibit pharmacologically open mtKATP with higher affinity than PKCepsilon-dependent open mtKATP. Our results further support the hypothesis of direct activation of PKCepsilon by products oflipid peroxidation including hydroperoxy fatty acids. We further found that phospholipase iPLA2 is essential for most modes of cardiprotection.
