New Genetic Diversity for Imperative Needs of Wheat and Barley Breeding and Growing.
Project goals
Project deals with increase and utilization of genetic diversity to secure stability and quality of production in winter wheat and spring barley, which are important crops in Czech agriculture. Genetic resources of the both crops will be gathered and evaluated to choose and verify donors of valuable characters for utilization in breeding, research and practice. We expect to gain new knowledge on genetic diversity of both crops and on better genetic resources management. In the first phase of the projectwe will assemble promising genetic resources that prove resistance to stresses, grain quality and other economically important characters. We will select outstanding accessions among a broad set of genetic resources using results of preliminary evaluation as well as by means of DNA and protein markers. Selected accessions will be included in follow ?up experiments. We have based the project design on three-year field experiments in two locations laboratory tests and testing of pre-selected geno

Project name in Czech
Nová genetická diversita pro aktuální potřeby šlechtění a pěstování pšenice a ječmene
Annotation in Czech
Zhodnotit genetické zdroje pšenice a ječmene, vybrat a ověřit donory cenných znaků pro využití ve šlechtění, aplikovaném výzkumu a praxi. Získat nové poznatky o genetické diversitě, zefektivnit využívání zdrojů a rozšířit mezinárodní spolupráci.
