Methods development for efficient selection and utilization of genetic diversity for resistance improvement to the most important biotic and abiotic stresses
Project goals
The aim of the proposed project is to develop and verify the biotechnological methods for efficient selection and utilization of genetic resources with increased resistance to seed borne fungal diseases and tolerance to drought, heat and frost, which arethe major stress factors limiting rapeseed production. Screening of genetic resources will be carried out according to the investigation of a wide range of physiological, morphological and biochemical parameters. Appropriate selection criteria and biochemical markers for efficient selection of genetic resources will be confirmed. The verified methods, dihaploid lines and plant materials with drought, freeze and pathogen resistance will contribute to increase cultivar diversity and agro-biodiversity infarming systems and to develop rapeseed cultivars with stress tolerance, disease resistance and with a high productivity and stability. Introduction of resistant cultivars will enable reduction of agro-technical inputs, which results in the economical sa

Project results evaluation
The project saw the development and validation of methods for selecting genetic sources of winter oilseed rape with heightened resistance to frost, drought, heat and disease transmissible by seed, and the use of these methods to increase the diversity ofvarieties.
