Original language description
This paper studies the dynamic behaviour of Al2O3specimens by using of the Hopkinson Split Pressure Bar method. The metod is also used in form of the Brazilian test when the tensile loading is achieved. Experimental results show the increase in the dynamic strength with increasing strain rate. The validity of the obtained results is futher confirmed by the numerical simulation of the Brazilian test using of the finite element code LS DYNA 3D.

Czech description
Je popsána metoda hodnocení lomu keramiky při vysokých rychlostech deformace dosahovaných pomocí metody Hopkinsonovy měrné tyče. Je použito tzv. brazilského testu. Je provedena numerická simulace dané zkoušky a stanoven postup určení lomového napětí. Výsledky jsou uvedeny pro vzorky korundu a safíru.
