    Wind Tunnel Simulation of Ice Accretion on Tail Unit

  • Original language description

    An experimental investigation was conducted to study the aerodynamic effect of simulated ice accretion on a wing and horizontal tailplane of an aircraft by means of wind tunnel testing. The strips simulating both a conventional leading-edge accretion andice accretion caused by supercooled large droplets were used. Its influence on the basic aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft was evaluated, i.e. lift, drag, side force and moments.
