NDI Aspects of Aircraft Lifetime Extension in according to Damage Tolerance Philosophy
Original language description
The Damage Tolerance (DT) philosophy is primary method for service lifetime extension of ageing aircraft structures. The application of the DT philosophy to the ageing metallic structures can introduce certain problems due to structure design and the Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI), as the structure was not originally designed with respect to these aspects. This document describes basic approaches of the DT philosophy and the work related to the lifetime extension certification process from a non-destructive inspection point of view.
