Original language description
Black carbon (BC) is a key component of atmospheric aerosols and is emitted by a variety of combustion sources. It is the most efficient light-absorbing aerosol species in the visible spectrum and is among the more toxic constituent components of ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Accurate monitoring of its concentrations is important for understanding the impact of BC on climate forcing and human health. Therefore, measurement methods that reduce the sources of uncertainties during data collection and evaluation are critical (EPA 2012)
