The research and the control of the oxygen regime in aerobic ponds

  • Original language description

Aerobic ponds (AP) are successfully utilised for the sewage treatment and for the final treatment of wastewater from sewage treatment plants. In these cases, AP form either the first or the second stage of the biological treatment. Aerobic processes proceed in the AP on the oxygen sufficiency. The knowledge gained in the research of the oxygen regime of typical AP and aeration AP is presented in the paper. Our attention was focused in greater detail on the investigation of obtaining dissolved oxygen (DO) through water level, on the determination of effects of wind and rainfalls, on the manners of artificial aeration and on the methods the oxygen regime control. For this purpose, special testing devices making the determination of the effects of particular factors possible have been developed. The research work was done using laboratory models, field pilot plants and operational AP. The paper gives a survey of the research results, the generalised recommendations, the calculation relati
