    INFLUENCE OF PCB CONTAMINATED SITES IN CZECH REPUBLIC ON WATER AND ENVIRONMENT ?

    PCB Directive has been successfully implemented in Czech laws. More than 30 hardly PCB contaminated sites exist in Czech Republic. Register of PCB hardly contaminated sites has been established. Reviews of basic data on hardly PCB contaminated sites haveto be created. Because of PCB properties, their use in former Czechoslovakia and chronic toxicity is important to define properly structure of reviews. Data on possible natural attenuation should be incorporated in reviews. PCBs can by in the specific conditions biodegradable, what can signify their natural loss in area of interest. Obtaining of current status on PCB contamination in scale of area of Czech Republic is challenging. However, here are presented examples of PCB contaminated sites reviews -contamination of water and soils in two former mixing plants and chemical waste storage facility

    Směrnice EU o PCB byla implementována. BYl vytvořen seznam lokalit silně znečištěných PCB. Jeho součástí jsou i pasporty jednotlivých znečištěných lokalit. Vzhledem k vlastnostem PCB a složité historii jejich využívání v bývalém Československu bylo velmidůležité správně definovat obsah pasportu.
