White or blue water footprint? Components of water footprint model of crops
Original language description
This article discusses the so-called "white water footprint" defined in 2014 by Ababaei and Etedali. White water footprint represents the losses of irrigation water that are not evaporated by the crop during its growth. Generally, 'water footprint' refers to all forms (direct or indirect) of freshwater consumption that contribute to the production of goods or services. Therefore, the irrigation losses are part of the total water footprint respectively are part of the blue water footprint. There are still only three categories of water footprint: blue, green and grey. There is no such thing as a "white water footprint".
