Nutrient-Induced Changes of Liver Fat Content in Humans

  • Original language description

Metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)affects approximately 30 % of the world adult population andeven contributes to the increased mortality from cardiovasculardisease. Dietary intervention, along with exercise, is the mostimportant tool for the treatment of MASLD patients. Dietarycomposition can have profound effects on liver fat. This reviewsummarizes the results of studies that used MR methods to studythe effect of macronutrients on liver fat content. It focuses onintervention studies manipulating the content and quantity ofmacronutrients in long-term dietary intervention studies and, inmore detail, on studies monitoring the effect of administerednutrients on changes in liver fat over several hours.
