Acute response of hepatic fat content to consuming fructose or glucose alongside fat in obese and non-obese subjects
Original language description
Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease is characterized by excessive accumulation ofhepatic fat (HFC) that is increasingly being linked to excessive fructose consumption. This study included 14 non-obese subjects and 11 obese subjects. Each subject underwent twoexaminations in which liver fat (HFC0) was measured using proton (1H) MR spectroscopy (MRS). Thesubjects then consumed 150 g of fat and 50 g of glucose or fructose. The same sugar was administeredagain after 2 and 4 hours. Six hours after the first dose of sugar, a second MRS examination (HFC6) wasperformed.
