New approaches in the prevention and treatment of pancreatic cancer in subjects with metabolic disorders
Original language description
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) demonstrates increased aggressivenessand reduced overall survival especially in patients with obesity and diabetes, likely due tometabolic dysregulation, chronic inflammation, and insulin resistance contributing to tumorprogression. Despite extensive research, limited efficacy of current therapies have prompted asearch for novel therapeutic options. An example is the therapeutic influence of cellularsenescence, which plays a critical role in the development and progression of PDAC in patientswith metabolic diseases. Our goal was therefore to test the novel mitochondria-targeted senolyticcompound (Compound X), developed in our laboratory, on prevention and treatment of PDAC.
