Section of Countries and Regions
Original language description
Section of Countries and Regions included expositions from 56 countries that took place in Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace, Clam-Gallas Palace, The Prague Crossroads-St.Anne´s Church, Kafka´s House, The Topič Salon, Lapidarium of Bethlehem Chapel, the New Stage of the National Theatre and piazzeta of the National Theatre all walking distance from each other. Individual expositions took shape of group exposition, as well as expositions devoted to one author or one project but also scenographic installations (either scenographies for stage recycled into exhibition installations or installations specifically made for the event). Work included in the expositions came from very different theatre cultures and showed work from opera and drama theatre to contemporary dance and performance art or installation art. This section was strongly influenced by the main theme SharedSpace: Music Weather Politics as defined by commissioners of individual themes: Aby Cohen scenographer from Brazil, Simon Banham scenographer from UK and Jiří Heřman director from Czech Republic. Most of expositions included live performative component (performer as part of installation), were interactive, or included additional live element (lectures, workshops, performances etc). Four countries had permanent installation-event in public space, Switzerland, the Netherlands, China and Finland. Exposition of the Czech Republic took place at the New Stage theatre and piazzetta of the National Theatre. It was curated by Jana Preková and devoted to director Jan Nebeský. It consisted of a performance Sweet Sweet Sweet and series of installations and happenings as well as presentation of documentation of Jan Nebeský´s work.
