Original language description
A new species of Cretaceous oyster, Oscilopha ostreiformis sp. n. is described from the santonian of the Hammadah al Hamara area (Libya). The news species differs from the type species of Oscilopha dichotoma (Bayle, 1849) in its shape, size, scupulation,diferent structure of the umbonal region, position of the muscle imprint, stratigraphic range and distribution.
