The first species of the genus Platychora Erichson, 1843 from the Australian Region (Coleoptera, Nitidulidae, Prometopinae)
Original language description
Platychora loebli n. sp. from the Arfak Mountains, West Papua, Indonesia, is described, illustrated and compared with other species of the genus, namely P. glabra Jelínek, 1982 from Malaysia and Sumatra, with which it shares the glabrous dorsum. It is the first species of the genus Platychora Erichson, 1843 known from New Guinea, and the Australian region. Morphological characters, e.g. the directly forward projecting mandibles of males, suggest a relationship of the new species with its Oriental congeners.
