Diagnostic performance of four proposed algorithms for suspected VEXAS syndrome
Original language description
VEXAS (vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X-linked, autoinflammatory, somatic) syndrome presents with a variety of inflammatory and/or haematological manifestations; detection of a pathogenic mutation in the UBA1 gene is required for diagnosis. Diagnosis of VEXAS syndrome has significant implications for patient prognosis and management. A simple and reliable algorithm identifying patients who should undergo UBA1 mutation testing based on clinical and laboratory features would be a helpful clinical tool. Given the relatively low prevalence of VEXAS syndrome, an optimal algorithm should maximize sensitivity while preserving a high level of specificity.
