Telomerase activity as a prospective molecular marker of myelodysplastic syndromes.
Original language description
We confirmed reactivation of telomerase activity in hematopoietic stem cells of MDS patients, all having shortened telomeres. Our findings suggest a possibility to use dynamics of telomerase activity as a marker of MDS. Nevertheless, determination of telomere length seems to be more effective in stratification of patients in risk of progression of MDS and conversion of MDS towards overt of leukemia.
