Beta amyloid protein and plant cysteine proteases influence the (3H)hemicholinium-3 binding site in vitro in rat hippocampus.
Original language description
In vitro effects of beta amyloid peptide 1-40 and of two proteases bromelain and papain were evaluated on hippocampal synaptosomes of 3-month old Wistar rats. Our experiments suggest that 100 nM amyloid eliminates depolarization effects. However, no changes were measured under basal conditions. Proteases influence the choline uptake (bromelain) or the bindig of uptake inhibitor (papain) under both basal and stimulated conditions. The synaptosomal transport previously inhibited by amyloid is more sensitive to the effects of bromelain and papain.
