Does serotonergic activity independently regulate peripheral insulin sensitivity?

  • Original language description

We studied the relationship between central serotonin (5-HT) activity (D-fenfluramine challenge test) and peripheral sensitivity to insulin (hyperinsulin euglycemic clamp) in the group of depressed and non-depressed subjects. The found the different regulation of receptor insulin sensitivity in the group of depressed persons and 5-HT activity in the hypothetical mechanism of this discrepancy.
