Original language description
The first version of the CGS map server (based on ArcIMS technology) was launched in 2003 and is integrated into the information portal of the Czech Geological Survey (http://www.geology.cz). It made extensive CGS data funds accessible to broad public aswell as to experts in geosciences. CGS prepares map services and applications not only for users, but also to meet the demanding technical and content criteria, which are required from the CGS, as a geological data provider, by Czech and European legislation. Since 2012, Czech Geological Survey has been publishing new map services through ArcGIS Server, and developing map applications with ArcGIS Viewer for Flex and for Silverlight, which are now becoming widely used by the broad public.
