Long-term hydrochemical monitoring in the Anenský Potok catchment as a part of the GEOMON network
Original language description
Emission control of acidifying pollutants since 1990s has got positive effect on precipitation chemistry across the Czech Republic as revealed by GEOMON monitoring network. In the Anensky Potok catchment total sulfur deposition was reduced by 68%, and throughfall pH increased from 4.0 to 5.7. Low water runoff and relatively high buffering capacity of soil against acidification caused only negligible changes in streamwater chemistry since 1994. On the other hand, better immobilization of inorganic nitrogen of the Anensky Potok catchment revealed positive impact of acidification on reversal on nitrogen ecosystem immobilization. This observation was in agreement with other results from the rest of GEOMON catchments.
