Mathematical modelling of brittle fractures in rock mass by means of the DFN method
Original language description
The report summarizes and concludes the sub-project 'PB-2016-ZL-U1351-030-DFN - Mathematical medeling of brittle fractures in rock mass by means of the DFN method'. The ultimate goal of the sub-project was to construct DFN models for generic geological site, for the Bukov URF, and for the seven potential DGR sites in the Czech Republic, while using geological data obtained by feasible survey methods. In order to identify DFn models, it is necessary to evaluate the parameters of relevant statistical distribution based on the preprocessed field data. To calibrate the Fisher distribution, we employ the well-established maximum likelihood estimates, which can be evaluated directly from the dips and strikes measured on outcrops. An original method is used to identify volumetric fracture density and the parameters of the fracture size distribution. the method utilizes objective functions, which quantify the discrepancy between the field observation and model simulation in terms of observable variables.
