Anaerobic digestion of grass phytomass in model biofermenters.
Original language description
In the realised experiment in double 50 l anaerobic fermenters yield and composition of biogas from fresh grass biomass and from grass hay was detected, in both cases as cofermentation with pig slurry. It was found that under the conditions of the experiment 163-164 litres of biogas and 80.26-62.76 litres of methane were produced from 1 kg of dry matter charge. There were only small differences between fresh grass phytomass and grass hay. With reference to non-combustible substances in charge, a slightly higher production of biogas was achieved from grass hay in comparison with fresh grass (211.1 and 208.7 l of biogas). The experiment proved that is is possible to use grass hay for anerobic digestion in winter season and that it is convenient to co-ferment grass phytomass with pig slurry.
