Bulked segregant analysis in combination with AFLP technique was performed to identify molecular markers linked to Plum pox virus (PPV) resistance in apricot. A backcross between a PPV resistant cultivar 'Stark Early Orange' and a PPV-susceptible hybridclone LE-3218 was used for this study. Four AFLP markers were identified in the resistant parent and bulk but not in the susceptible parent and bulk. They were further detected in most of the resistant BC1 individuals excluding some recombinants, and were absent from all the susceptible progeny scored. This suggests possible linkage to the PPV resistance trait.
