Bacterial canker of tomato, caused by bacterium Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm), is a well-known disease resulting in serious losses to both greenhouse and field tomato crops. In chemical control, preparations based on copper compounds are applied most frequently, blit they can be phytotoxic and not effective enough, hence other alternatives are considered. In our experiment, thirty-four essential oils obtained from different plants were verified. The screening was conducted in vitro on agar plates contaminated by Cmm. Oxychloride-Cu 84% was used as the control. Strong inhibitory activity against Cmm was shown in essential oils from Origanum compactum, O. vulgare and Thymus vulgaris. Medium inhibitory effectivity was found in essential oils from Artemisia absinthium and Salvia sclarea. Weak inhibitory activity, but higher than standard, was recorded in essential oils from Eugenia caryophyllata, Nepeta cataria, Ocimum basilicum, Pelargonium graveolens and P. roseum.

Bakteriální rakovina rajčete, kterou způsobuje Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm)je známá choroba, kterou najdeme u rajčat ve sklenícíh a ina polích. Z ověřovaných rostlinných esenciálních olejů byly proti Cmm nejúčinnější oleje z Origanum compactum, O. vulgare a Thymus vulgaris.
