Original language description

The authors collected many species of the genus Rheum during expeditions to Asia. They were grown in the Gene Bank and/or given to the rhubarb collection of Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry, Lednice, a member of the National Programme for Plant Genetic Resources. The section Rhapontica provides vegetable cultivated species, but other sections can offer valuable species as well. Rheum undulatum and Rh. compactum were collected in the Mongolian Changai Mts. The former has long thick petioleswith a good taste but with prominent fibres. Rheum wittrockii was brought from the Tien Shan Mts. It is a large decorative plant with flat leaves and red-winged bright red fruits, petioles are less suitable as vegetables. Rheum reticulatum was brought from Pamirs and Tien Shan. It is a decorative plant with surface-prostrate reticulate leaves and stemless spikes of cinnamon red fruits. Young leaves and petioles are soft and tasty. Rheum delavayi comes from the mountains of Yunnan/Sechuan

Czech description

Autoři introdukovali řadu druhů reveně během expedic z Asie. Tyto druhy jsou pěstovány a hodnoceny. Sekce Rhapontica poskytuje známé zeleninové kulturní druhy, ale ostatní sekce mohou být též zdrojem cenných druhů pro kulturu. Rheum undulatum a Rh. compactum byly dovezeny z mongolského Changaje. Rh. undulatum má dlouhé silné řapíky dobré chutí ale více vláknité. Rheum wittrockii bylo získáno z Tan Šanu. Je to vysoká dekorativní rostlina s plochými listy a silnými červenými značně vláknitými řapíky. Rheum reticulatum bylo získáno z Pamiru a Tan Šanu. Dekorativní rostliny s listy položenými na zemi mají klasy květů bez lodyh. Mladé listy a řapíky jsou křehké a chutné. Rheum delavayi pochází z Yunnanu a Sechuanu. Malé rostliny jsou pouze 15 cm vysoké a mají velmi jemnou texturu. Rheum nobile a Rh. alexandrae z ze Sechuanu jsou nádherné rostliny na dekoraci ale obtížně pěstovatelné. Jejich bílé listeny mají jemné chutné pletivo. Mnoho planých revení lze pěstovat jako zeleninu, dekorativní
