    The perennial weed Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop, is able to reproduce both in vegetative and generative way on arable land, whereas vegetative reproduction plays a more significant role for its current spread. This study focused on the ability of biomass production of plants emerged out of seeds and plants reproduced in a vegetative way. We evaluated the process of above- and below-ground biomass production as well as rootstock and shoot production. Experiments were set up at the beginning of the vegetation period (April) and the biomass assessments were carried out in monthly intervals until October. The experiments were set up in pots that were exposed to outdoor conditions and were repeated during two successive years (2004 and 2005). The seedlings produced on average 167.5 g above-ground biomass, 117.5 g below-ground biomass, 1555.6 cm of rootstocks and 24.0 aerial shoots during vegetation. ....

    Vytrvalý druh Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop. je na orné půdě rozšiřován vegetativní a generativní cestou. Vegetativní reprodukce formou kořenových segmentů je více intenzivní. Tato studie se zabývá schopností produkce biomasy u rostlin množených generativnía vegetativní cestou. Pokusy byly vysety a vysázeny na začátku vegetačního období (duben) a v pravidelných měsících byly hodnoceny: vážení nadzemní a podzemní biomasy, délka kořenových výhonů a počet odnoží. Pokusy probíhaly ve dvou letech (2004 a 2005).Rostliny ze semenáčků byly schopny vyprodukovat za vegetační sezónu 167,5 g nadzemní biomasy, 117,5 g podzemní biomasy, 15555,6 cm kořenových výhonů a 24 růžic.
