Laser diffraction size distribution of starch granules in samples of common wheat in dependence on growing conditions
Original language description
The aim of the study was to estimate effects of variety, the level of plant nutrition and year on the size distribution of wheat starch granules. Four selected samples of common wheat (Meritto, Rheia, Barroko, Florett) with different baking quality (A, B, C) were cultivated in the locality Ruzyně under two different levels of crop management during 2006-2008. The size distribution of starch granules was measured by laser diffraction (Fritsch Particle Sizer Analysette 22 NanoTec). Our research was focused on changes in the volume percentage ratio of A-starch granules, which are characterized by size diameter above 10 ?m and they are of primary importance in starch production. Starch and amylose content and also basic technological characteristics of wheat grain in tested varieties were determined. The significant effect of variety on the size distribution of starch granules was explicitly confirmed. The effects of year and crop management were not significant.
