Near infrared spectroscopy for deoxynivalenol content estimation in intact wheat grain
Original language description
The present study was aimed at a rapid determination of deoxynivalenol (DON) concentration in whole wheat grain by means of FT-NIR spectroscopy using partial least square calibration (PLS) and discriminant analysis technique (DA). The calculated models showed a certain limitation especially in the predictions of low contaminated wheat samples with DON content below 5 ppm. Nevertheless, these models were suitable for estimation of DON content in collections of artificially infected wheat plants in Fusarium resistance breeding experiments, where DON concentration and differences among resistant and sensitive genotypes are much higher.
