Proso millet is one the oldest grown cereal species. Firstly, proso millet caryopses make up part of the human diet. However, they may be also used as fodder material; poultry and exotic birds are fed with them. Proso millet straw is used as volumed fodder material. Although proso millet is becoming a more and more attractive cereal species from the point of view of its nutritive value in particular, it is also an undemanding cereal species, which makes it interesting as well. Proso millet represents avery limited part of Czech fields. It is not seriously affected by any diseases or pests.
