Original language description
Wheat Streak mosaic virus (WSMV) is a serious disease of cereals, especially in wheat. It has been found that WSMV detected on crop plants significantly differs in its genetic code from the virus occurring on wild grasses. WSMV isolates from grass have several mutations of the central domain of the coat protein compared to the virus isolates from wheat. These differences may indicate both the adaptation to the host and the different properties of individual virus isolates in their pathogenicity, viability of transmissibility and other important features.
