Original language description
The result is a description of the Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV). The incidence of WSMV is increasing in the Czech Republic. It infects many plant species of the family Poaceae, including wheat, oats, barley, corn, millet and many grass species. The main symptoms caused by WSMV are the mosaic and chlorotic strips on the leaf that necrotizes and gradually dry out. WSMV is transmitted by the Aceria tosichella mite and is also transmitted by seeds at low levels (up to 1.5%). WSMV has been reported in many growing regions around the world and is causing serious concern for cereal growers. This chapter summarizes the current knowledge of WSMV from etiology to methods of crop management against the virus.
