Proteomic analysis of plant response to abiotic stress, especially to drought

  • Original language description

Abiotic stress, especially drought, is one of the most crop influencing factors in the world. For deeper clarification of mechanism of plant response to drought, quantitative analysis of wheat proteome under drought condition was performed. Particularly, comparative analysis of two wheat varieties with different tolerance (sensitive Tobak, tolerant Baletka) was focused on observation of changes in total proteome of crowns and leaves. Using two-dimensional differential gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) approach followed by identification of protein spots revealing qualitative and quantitative differences between stressed and control plant, or only between varieties, was verified that the wheat tolerance is positively influenced not only by increased or faster biosynthesis of protective proteins (like dehydrins), but mainly by complex regulation of increased biosynthesis of specific proteins of plant metabolism.
