POSTHARVEST FUNGAL DISEASES OF GARLIC: ASSESSMENT AND IMPLICATIONS FOR LONG-TERM STORAGE
Original language description
In the contribution, the use of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in plant cryopreservation was presented as a supportive tool for evaluating the vitrification behaviour of cryoprotective systems. Thermal transitions associated with glass formation and crystallization were assessed in order to define conditions under which stable vitrification was achieved. The applicability of DSC for the selection and optimization of cryoprotectant compositions was demonstrated, with emphasis on minimizing the risk of ice formation and improving the reliability of long-term preservation of plant tissues and genetic resources.
