Comparison of ruminal degradability of starch of maize grain and maize silages by in vitro method
Original language description
The objective of this experiment was to determine the in vitro ruminal degradability of starch (IVRDS) in the set of maize silages (whole plants, maize cobs with bracts, maize grain) compared to non-ensiled maize grain. It was concluded, that the ensiling of maize increased the rate of the IVRDS. In the silages, the increased IVRDS were found already after 4 hours of incubation in contrary to non-ensiled maize grain. After 24 hours of incubation, the differences were balanced. The degradability betweenthe analysed silages and maize grain differed significantly, but no significant differences among different types of silages were detected.
