High pressure inactivation of Bacillus cereus in human breast milk
Original language description
Holder pasteurization (62.5 °C/30 min) is the recommended method for processing breast milk, it does affect, however some of its nutritional and biological properties, moreover, it is ineffective at inactivating spores (Jandová et al., 2021). The aim of this study was to find and validate high pressure treatment (HPT) of human milk, an alternative methodology for its processing. We verified that the HPT processing of human breast milk method was reproducible. The routine use of this method could lead to increased availability of human breast milk for newborn babies and at the same time to reduction of the amount of wasted milk.
