Original language description
Soil degradation has become a considerable global environmental problem which also occurs in the Czech Republic. Functions of soil production are reduced or even completely destroyed and loss of soil increases. These processes have highly negative impacts on agriculture, food security, the environment, society and sustainable development. One of the reasons for this situation is the inappropriate approach to farming and lenient limits of measures concerning soil protection. Implementation of a standard Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition (DZES - Czech equivalent to GAEC) is one of the instruments which should improve conditions of soil and farming in the Czech Republic. The main objective of this standard is to protect soil against water erosion and to reduce negative effects of flooding or clogging by eroded soil. The map Maximum Admissible Value of the Conservation Effect Factor of the Canopy Cover (Cp) has been created and the limits of standard are expressed and discussed. This map has become the official tool of protection of agricultural land in the Czech Republic.
