Ecological Corridors In The Carpathians : The ConnectGREEN Project
Original language description
Spatial planning is the most important tool for balancing the needs of the society, economy and the environment. Spatial planning differs from one country to another due to the different conditions and historical background, but there are major similar characteristics. In the first phase of the project, we elaborated a comparison analysis about the spatial planning system of partner countries and the relation and integration of ecological network planning and spatial planning. Our objective was to explore the major problems, gaps in the identification and maintenance of ecological corridors. The traditional nature protection areas do not provide an interconnected network. The study was elaborated based on the research carried out within the frame of the project DTP263 ConnectGREEN – Restoring and managing ecological corridors in mountains as the green infrastructure in the Danube basin (DTP2-072-2.3), supported by Interreg Danube Programme, co-financed by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
