Developed microsatellite markers were tested on a subset of the EUFORGEN core-collection of blac poplar genotypes from all over Europe. 15 primer pairs were obtained that gave reasonable to good quality. We started with an analysis of genetic diversity in natural populations along the Rhine river in The Netherlands and the Labe (Elbe) river in Czech Republic.
