The genetic diversity of 132 pig isolates of Mycobacterium avium subsp. avium from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia was examined by IS901 Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) analysis with restriction endonuclease PvuII. A total of 18RFLP types were detected. The occurrence frequency of respective RFLP types varied between respective pig herds, with the exception of one RFLP type found in 34% and 47% of herds in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, respectively. No relationship betweenRFLP types within a district or country was detected. Two different RFLP types were detected in 33% of the studied farms with more than one isolate.

Czech description
Pro studium genetické variability Mycobacterium avium subsp. avium bylo 132 izolátů pocházejících od prasat z České, Slovenské a Slovinské republiky vyšetřeno metodou polymorfismu délky restrikčních fragmentů (RFLP). Jako restrikční endonukleáza byl použit enzym PvuII. Celkem bylo získáno 18 různých RFLP profilů, z nichž jeden profil byl přítomen ve 34% a 47% stádech v České a Slovenské republice. Nebyl zaznamenán zvýšený výskyt určitého typu v jednotlivých okresech nebo státech. Směsná infekce s dvěmaRFLP profily byla zaznamenána na 33% studovaných farmách.
